Albany County Hockey Facility
The Albany County Hockey Facility was built in 1990 as a training center for the USA Hockey program. It has 6 locker rooms, the Center Ice Café provides concessions, and the Hockey Store N More Pro Shop provides a stellar skate sharpening service and a solid selection of gear. The rink typically runs a 10 month schedule; open from July 5th to the end of April. The official mission of the Albany County Hockey Facility is, “To provide a variety of inexpensive, safe, enjoyable recreational and athletic programs that enhance the quality of life and promote the physical, mental, and social well-being of Albany County residents.” In the summer of 2015, the rink completed the 5-month-long first phase of a major renovation project which included: replacing the refrigeration system, cooling tower, under-floor heating system, and boards, replacing the aging scoreboards with new, efficient LED scoreboards, adding new safety netting around the glass, adding 5,000 sq. ft. of rubbing flooring, and the biggest change of all, reducing the rink size from Olympic (200’x100’) to NHL size (200’x85’).
